Pumpkin Patch

Maren's preschool class went on a field trip to the Linder Farms pumpkin patch before Halloween. It happened to be a No School day for the big kids so they got to come along too. The cool part about coming here is that they take you on a hay ride and the kids get to pick out any pumpkin they can carry on their own and take it home for free. It is a blast to watch the kids run around choosing pumpkin after pumpkin to find the one they will be most pleased with. The boys thought the white ones looked coolest, while Maren went for the traditional; orange. Ryen was being a very good two-year old that day and refused to pick a pumpkin or get in any photo but one. Even Maren was a touch grumpy because there was a dog within 100 yards of us.

We were experiencing an unusual spurt of extremely cold weather and that day there was a breeze added to it. Most the kids were so miserable by the end that it seemed too much to even be outside long enough to drink hot chocolate. It was a quick field trip. We came prepared with thermals under our clothes, hats, gloves and coats (or vests if you are tough like Braden and Hansen). We were the last to leave and even with all our preparation, we found the wind to be biting through our gloves.

Going to the pumpkin patch is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. I don't usually remember to go until it's too late in the season though. I love having a kid in preschool so I remember to plan these fun trips!
